Leicester City faced off with Newcastle United in a Premier League match on Saturday, December 14th.
Leicester City remain in danger of suffering a swift relegation back down to the Championship but their recent form under Ruud van Nistelrooy may have given them hope of staying up.
The Foxes were yet to suffer defeat under their new manager after earning a win over West Ham United and a draw against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Standing in their way on Saturday was a Newcastle United team who have not been at their best of late.
Eddie Howe’s men had shipped seven in two prior to kick-off and with Leicester having one of the leakest defences in the Premier League this term, a high-scoring affair was predicted.
Leicester fans were not happy with Van Nistelrooy when the starting eleven to take on Newcastle was announced.
Changes were expected owing to injury and suspension problems in midfield, but the fact Facundo Buonanotte was on the bench and Kasey Mcateer started was quite the surprise.

Mads Hermansen injured during Leicester City vs Newcastle United
Leicester went 1-0 down after 30 minutes thanks to a goal from winger Jacob Murphy.
Their afternoon went from bad to worse when the teams came out for the second 45 and goalkeeper Mads Hermansen was nowhere to be seen.
Van Nistelrooy has now provided an injury update on Hermansen and it doesn’t sound too great.
He said: “When Mads comes off, then it’s an injury. He felt a pain in the groin, so he couldn’t continue. We have to assess what it’s like.
“He was just certain he couldn’t continue the game. He didn’t want to make it worse. We have to assess. Hopefully, it’s not too much. But of course, he doesn’t come off like that.”
The Foxes went on to concede three more goals on Saturday, seeing them lose 4-0 to Newcastle.
With Hermansen now potentially facing a spell on the sidelines, Van Nistelrooy should look to the free-agent market to sign a new goalkeeper while the Dane is out.
The best option available to the Midlands outfit right now is former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, Keylor Navas.
The 37-year-old has been without a club since leaving the French capital over the summer and, as he is a free agent, could be brought in straight away.
The alternative option is Leicester stick with backup goalkeeper Danny Ward – a call fans are probably praying doesn’t happen.

Danny Ward stats for Leicester City vs Newcastle United
Ward has been the backup option at the King Power Stadium for some time and has never exactly shone.
After replacing Mads off the bench on Saturday, however, it’s fair to say the Welshman did not cover himself in glory.
His stats coming out of the match are quite alarming, especially with a huge relegation scrap against Wolves coming up next week.
Leicester could and probably should sign a free-agent goalkeeper in the next week but if they don’t, their chances of avoiding relegation will surely take a big blow with Ward between the sticks.
