Leicester City are in desperate need of new faces in the January transfer window.

The Foxes are well and truly in a relegation battle and go into the new year in the bottom three of the Premier League.

Defensive options are set to be a priority for Leicester but given the lack of firepower up front, attack-minded players could also be targeted.

One area where Leicester have particularly struggled for form is the striker’s position.

Aside from Jamie Vardy, the other two options (Patson Daka and Odsonne Edouard) are yet to set the world alight.

There is talk of Leicester trying to sign Evan Ferguson in January, but some fans believe that the answer is already there for the Foxes out on loan.

Tom Cannon was sent out on loan to Stoke City this season after Cannon was frustrated by a lack of minutes at the Foxes.

Since moving to the Championship club the Republic of Ireland international has gone on to become one of the top goal scorers in the league.

His performances have seen plenty of Leicester fans demanding the club to recall the forward and bring him back into the fold, claiming he could have a part to play in the Foxes’ survival campaign.

One fan said: “Surely Ruud has to recall Cannon?”

A second commented: “Rather then buying another striker in January we should just recall Tom Cannon. Strikers aren’t the issue, the issues are defending and creating chances. Send Edouard back allowing us loan someone else.

“I really think Tom Cannon could be the replacement for Vardy. Given the game time, he will come good he’s already showing that this season at Stoke!” claimed a third.

This person added: “Is it time that we call this baller back?”

Tom Cannon scores last-minute wonder goal for Stoke

The calls for Cannon to return to the King Power Stadium have only intensified after he scored an incredible winner for Stoke against Sunderland on Sunday.

Stoke, who had recently sacked their manager, were heading into stoppage time of their win against the Black Cats before the Leicester loanee unleashed a fierce effort from the edge of the box to give the hosts the win.

It was the forward’s eighth goal of the season which makes him the eighth top scorer in the Championship.

He also has more goals than Leicester’s current top goal scorer this season, which is Vardy with six.
