Leicester City are about to embark on a new era under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s stewardship.

Just days removed from Steve Cooper’s sacking, Leicester are now on the verge of appointing van Nistelrooy.

The former Manchester United interim has been sounded about by owner Khun Top, who has gained assurances that he will look to implement an attractive brand of football.

Khun Top is also believes van Nistelrooy will be able to form a strong bond with the dressing room – which was something Cooper struggled to achieve.

Van Nistelrooy won’t be on the touchline this weekend but he’ll likely be in the stands watching on against Brentford.

That’ll give him time to assess the group and where he may need to strengthen in the January transfer window.

With that said, it’s become obvious who van Nistelrooy’s first signing should be.

Leicester should make Evan Ferguson Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first signing

Leicester are in desperate need of depth up front as it’s only really Jamie Vardy who’s capable of scoring the goals.

Patson Daka, who’s recently returned from injury, and Odsonne Edouard just aren’t of the standard required in truth.

So, in the opening 12 games, it’s become pretty evident that Leicester need to sign another striker to provide support to Vardy.

Evan Ferguson would be the ideal target and he’s actually attainable, as Brighton are open to sending him out on loan in January, according to the Telegraph.

The promising young centre-forward is behind Danny Welbeck in the pecking order at the Amex and is itching for regular starting opportunities.

So, City must position themselves to land his signature this winter as he’d be absolutely perfect for van Nistelrooy.

Leicester have to terminate one loan in order to sign Ferguson

In order for Leicester to sign Ferguson, they must terminate one of their loan deals in order to comply with Premier League rules.

Edouard is the obvious loan to terminate, with the other loanee Facundo Buonanotte tearing it up this season.

Eduoard has played just 142 minutes of league football for City this season and is yet to get off the mark.

The deadline-day signing has struggled to make any real impact from the bench, so perhaps it’s time to send him back to his parent club Crystal Palace – thus making room for Ferguson.
