Leicester City return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon and they will have a new manager in the dugout.

Leicester are about to appoint Ruud van Nistelrooy and he is expected to be in post for the away clash against Brentford.

Leicester did consider appointing Niko Kovac and West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan was also considered.

However, it’s understood van Nistelrooy was the board’s first choice after gaining assurances that he’d play an attractive brand of football.

Now, the former Man United assistant must repay the faith shown in him by picking up a positive result on Saturday.

With that said, Paul Merson has just issued his prediction for the clash at Brentford.

Paul Merson predicts Brentford vs Leicester

Writing in his Sportskeeda column, Paul Merson issued his thoughts on Leicester’s decision to sack Steve Cooper and gave his prediction on this weekend’s game.

“It makes me laugh, Leicester made a pathetic decision by sacking Steve Cooper,!” Merson wrote.

“They are fifth from bottom and out of the relegation zone, what else did you expect? Did you think you would come up from the Championship and push for a place in Europe?

“Leicester will get relegated. I watched them against Chelsea and they were all over the place. They got lucky with the penalty in the end, but honestly it could have been six or seven nil. The players partying before the sacking of Cooper sums up where they are as a football club at the moment”

“Brentford are a team that likes to score goals and I don’t see this game being any different. They could run riot and pile further misery on Leicester.”

Merson predicted Brentford to beat Leicester 3-0.

Leicester record vs Brentford

Leicester have a pretty good record against Brentford as they haven’t lost against them since 1953 – which came in the second tier.

The last two clashes against the Bees have been draws, so City will be hoping to get back into the win column this time around.

A telling few days lie ahead for The Foxes.
