Leicester City’s search for a new manager is set to come to an end.

Leicester are on the verge of appointing Ruud van Nistelrooy as Steve Cooper’s successor, ending a pretty swift three-day hunt.

The Foxes looked at Graham Potter and Lee Carsley before settling on the Dutchman, who recently left Manchester United after a spell as interim head coach.

Van Nistelrooy’s only previous permanent role was at PSV, where he won the Dutch Cup whilst leading them to a runners-up finish.

So he comes in with very little experience but there’s certainly a level of excitement around his arrival at King Power Stadium.

And, former Leicester defender Jonny Evans has already told fans exactly what to expect from van Nistelrooy.

Jonny Evans says Ruud van Nistelrooy is ‘obsessed with defensive structure’

Speaking to FourFourTwo in September, Manchester United defender Jonny Evans shared his honest verdict on van Nistelrooy – who at the time was working as Erik ten Hag’s number two.

“He was a deadly striker and for him to pass on his knowledge straight away meant he had everyone’s respect immediately,” Evans said.

“Joining United is a great move for him and for the club. He seems very open and wants to improve people. You can see that he’s early enough in his career that he’s hungry to do well and pass on his abundance of knowledge. He’s quite obsessed with defensive structure.”

Leicester fans have already discovered a masterclass video that van Nistelrooy did with the Coaches Voice, further revealing what to expect from the 48-year-old.

Van Nistelrooy expected to play an attractive brand of football

It’s understood that Leicester owner Khun Top believes van Nistelrooy will implement an attractive brand of football, which must be music to the ears of supporters after the pragmatism under Cooper.

Alex Crook also reveals that the owner is confident the Dutchman can form a good relationship with the dressing room.

The disconnect was evident during Cooper’s reign, so it seems two major issues are set to be resolved if things go according to plan.

Exciting times lie ahead for Leicester, who return to action against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
