Facundo Buonanotte has been superb for Leicester City since his summer move but Ruud van Nistelrooy may be about to hand him a new role.
Facundo Buonanotte joined Leicester City on a season-long loan from Brighton and Hove Albion during the 2024 summer transfer window.
Prior to his arrival, former Manchester United and Manchester City star Carlos Tevez compared Buonanotte to Lionel Messi after managing him in Argentine.
While not quite at the level of the all-time greats just yet, the future is looking very bright for the South American.
Unfortunately for Foxes fans, we provided an exclusive update on the midfielder recently with Brighton having no intention of selling Buonanotte to Leicester on a permanent deal.
However, with six months of the season still to play, the 19-year-old can play a key role in the club’s battle for survival.
Steve Cooper led the Midlands outfit to within a point of the relegation zone and was sacked over the weekend.
Now, Leicester are on the verge of appointing Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager and he could offer Buonanotte a new role at the King Power.

Ruud van Nistelrooy could give Facundo Buonanotte new role at Leicester City
Most recently, Van Nistelrooy acted as interim manager of Manchester United after working as an assistant to Erik ten Hag during the first few months of 2024/25.
Prior to that, the 48-year-old spent one season as head coach of Erdervise outfit, PSV Eindhoven.
It was a short spell in the Netherlands but he enjoyed great success, winning two cups with PSV.
After leaving the club last year, Van Nistelrooy appeared on the Coaches’ Voice YouTube channel and detailed his tactics from his time with PSV.
One snippet of the video is particularly interesting and hints that the incoming manager could now opt to play Buonanotte, who has largely operated as 10 for Leicester, out wide as an inside forward like he did with Xavi Simons.
He said: “We had to sell him [Cody Gakpo] in winter. After the winter it was Bakayoko playing here [on the right] and I played Xavi Simons on the other wing.
“That was more on the outside without the ball because with the ball he tends to come inside playing in the half spaces and with Patrick van Aanholt going higher up attacking there.
“It was it was a good partnership on the left side.”

Is Facundo Buonanotte available for Brentford vs Leicester City
Buonanotte has been superb for Leicester early in the current season but did miss the defeat to Chelsea due to suspension.
The Foxes return to Premier League action on Saturday and will be facing off with Brentford.
Ahead of that meeting, an update on Buonanotte has been provided and it’s good news.
The teenager was only serving a one-match ban after picking up five yellow cards in the league and is now once more available.
It will be interesting to see how Van Nistelrooy lines Leicester up vs Brentford, with some big changes expected.
