Leicester City should have clear points target in next five games as Ruud van Nistelrooy looks to continue ‘new manager bounce’

Leicester City got off to the perfect start under Ruud van Nistelrooy with a win against West Ham United.

Goals from Jamie Vardy, Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka ensured that Van Nistelrooy got off to a record-breaking start as Leicester boss.

The win was the Foxes’ first in six Premier League games and pulled them four points clear of the relegation zone – albeit having played before plenty of the teams around them.

Van Nistelrooy celebrated Tuesday’s win with a beer, but the Dutchman will be back on the training ground and prepping for a busy run of fixtures until the end of the year as Leicester look to climb up the table.

Who are Leicester City’s next five games against?

December is always the busiest time of year for games and that’s certainly no different for Leicester.

Three home games and two away games are to come over the course of the next month, including a visit to league leaders Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Wolves visit the King Power Stadium in the final game before Christmas Day and will be one that Leicester can target maximum points from.

An away trip to Newcastle United and Manchester City at home as the final game of 2024 are also included in the next five.

Leicester City should be targeting eight points from next five games

It goes without saying that everyone affiliated with Leicester wants to win every game.

Sometimes though, that isn’t always the case and when in a relegation battle, points are harder to come by.

With that said though, a strong end to 2024 from the Foxes could see them create some significant breathing room between themselves and the bottom three.

With that, you would expect Van Nistelrooy’s side to be picking up anywhere between eight points from their next five fixtures to call this a successful month.

Home games against Brighton and Wolves can certainly be viewed as games where three points can be obtained.

Newcastle’s patchy form this season also means that a win isn’t out of the question, but a point on the road isn’t the end.

Liverpool away is almost a free hit whilst Man City have also looked out of sorts and when at the King Power Stadium, anything could happen.
