Steve Cooper has endured a real rollercoaster ride since taking over as Leicester City manager in June.

There were choppy waters for Steve Cooper to navigate at Leicester City after the departures of both manager Enzo Maresca and star man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to start the summer.

The fact Cooper is best known for his work at rivals Nottingham Forest did not help his cause, but Leicester going the first six Premier League matches of the season without a win was the biggest reason for concern.

However, Cooper finally mastermind a first league win as Leicester boss last time out as a Facundo Buonanotte strike saw the Foxes beat Bournemouth 1-0.

Cooper has used a number of players so far as he looks to find a winning solution and has had the task of integrating nine summer signings too.

With that in mind, here are Leicester’s best 11 performers since his arrival.

Leicester City’s best team in Premier League so far

It should be noted that this is not necessarily the team that we feel Cooper should play, but the best individual performers put into Cooper’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation.

Goalkeeper – Mads Hermansen

Mads Hermansen is the undisputed number one at Leicester and his performances this season have shown why.

The Dane kept his first Premier League sheet against Bournemouth and is statistically the best-performing goalkeeper in the division.

Right-back – James Justin

Cooper’s shunning of Ricardo Pereira has been one of the biggest surprises this season but James Justin is showing his quality at right-back.

A brace against Arsenal almost helped inspire Leicester to a shock draw but two goals in second-half stoppage time broke Foxes’ hearts.

Centre-back – Wout Faes

Wout Faes divides opinion at times as he often looks far too casual at centre-back and is susceptible to big errors, but the Belgian has been very good this season.

Was key to the clean sheet against Bournemouth and will need to be at his best as the senior one of Leicester’s starting central defenders.

Centre-back – Caleb Okoli

Caleb Okoli was first brought into the league side for the 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa and has kept his place ever since.

Leicester spent £12 million to sign the 23-year-old from Atalanta in the summer and it is looking like very good business with the powerful centre-back complimenting Faes well.

Left-back – Victor Kristiansen

Victor Kristiansen spent last season on loan at Bologna with Maresca not fancying the left-back.

However, his aggression, boundless energy and enthusiasm have seen Kristiansen start every Premier League game this season in a very settled back four.

Centre-midfield – Oliver Skipp

Cooper was very keen to secure the signing of Oliver Skipp this summer and it took Leicester £25 million to make that happen.

A calm presence in the centre of midfield, Skipp looks to now be ahead of Harry Winks in the pecking order after Winks was dropped for the win over Bournemouth.

An understated midfielder, Skipp will be key this season.

Centre-midfield – Wilfred Ndidi

Leicester managed to tie Wilfred Ndidi to a new contract in the summer it looking as though the Nigerian could leave.

That could prove to be one of the Foxes’ best pieces of business as Ndidi has started the season well.

Looks far more comfortable playing deeper with than he has as the advanced midfielder and should now be allowed to build a partnership with Skipp.

Right-midfield – Abdul Fatawu

Abdul Fatawu is a real fan favourite at Leicester and started the season well despite those around him struggling.

Has surprisingly been out of the side of late as Cooper has been reluctant to play the Ghanaian and Stephy Mavididi in the same side.

Attacking midfield – Facundo Buonanotte

Arguably Leicester’s best player so far this season whilst on loan from Brighton with two goals and two assists in the league.

Buonanotte has been a revelation and the 19-year-old has been rewarded with a surprise senior call-up to the Argentina national team.

Left-midfield – Stephy Mavididi

Was out of the side at the start of the season much to the dismay of Leicester’s fans.

Came into the side against Crystal Palace and scored before following that up with a goal the next week against Everton.

Now firmly in favour with Cooper finally seeing sense.

Centre-forward – Jamie Vardy

Who else but Jamie Vardy? Leicester’s talisman continues to lead the line with aplomb even at 37 and has two goals in the league.

Odsonne Edouard is yet to show he has what to takes to displace Vardy in the side.
