Leicester City’s academy has been the only shining light in a difficult campaign for the Foxes, who are marooned inside the Premier League’s bottom three.

On Friday night, Leicester City’s under 21s came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over West Ham to move up to fifth in the table.

Encouragingly, two familiar faces were on the scoresheet. Jake Evans, who has been tipped to replace Jamie Vardy, scored the initial equaliser in the 45th minute.

Evans led the line superbly on the night, as the Hammers struggled to live with his piercing movement in behind the defence.

However, the limelight was stolen by another sensational performance from electric winger Jeremy Monga, who sent a clear message to Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Jeremy Monga sends message to Ruud van Nistelrooy

Monga’s emergence onto the scene this term has been breathtaking. The teenager has been playing for the under-21s despite being aged just 15.

Remarkably, he’s looked light-years ahead of players six years his senior, running rings around defenders every week and proving unstoppable.

This was the case on Friday night against West Ham as the wonderkid scored an unbelievable solo goal, weaving in and out of defenders with incisive dribble before slotting his effort calmly past the goalkeeper.

It was then his run and excellent through ball in the 88th minute that freed forward Joshua David King, who caught the keeper off his line with a moment of improvisation to win the game.

Supporters on social media were left stunned by Monga’s incredible individual display as he ran the game and provided a quality final ball.

In a team that is struggling to score goals, surely Van Nistelrooy has to throw Monga into the first-team, even if he is just 15-years-old.

Monga compared to Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku

Not only does Monga have to start to help the failing senior side but to also ensure he’s happy with his current situation in Leicestershire.

As exclusively revealed by Leicester City News last week, Monga has reportedly agreed a deal with Manchester City, which could see him move to Etihad before signing his first professional contract.

Encouragingly, Van Nistelrooy is discussing Monga’s future with the player himself and his parents as he aims to keep the youngster for the long-term.

Meanwhile, during the clash against the Hammers, West Ham commentator Mark Phillips compared the Leicester gem to Man City’s lightning-quick winger Jeremy Doku.

But he didn’t just compare him to the Belgian, he suggested that Monga has already got better end product than the City star.

The world is Monga’s oyster, and Leicester will hope he snubs interest from the champions and instead becomes a hero at the King Power.
