Three Championship stars Leicester City should sign this summer including former Enzo Maresca favourite

Leicester City’s Premier League fate was all but confirmed last night as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men have now been cut 12 points adrift from safety, as Wolves picked up a win earlier this week.

For the first time since joining in December, Van Nistelrooy accepted City’s relegation in his post-match interview.

“We can be real about it, 12 points eight games to play. It’s a very big difference, too much. Focus on game to game and presenting ourselves in the best possible way. That is the main target now.”

With that said, the focus behind the scenes will be on preparing for life back in the Championship, so here are three players the club should target.

Tom Fellows – West Bromwich Albion

Leicester City are in desperate need of wide players this summer and West Bromwich Albion’s Tom Fellows should be at the top of their shortlist.

Fellows has been the assist king in the Championship this term, laying on 11 in 38 appearances, joint-top with Middlesbrough’s Finn Azaz.

According to Everton News, Moyes wanted to land his signature in January, but a £10m transfer collapsed on deadline day.

Giorgi Chakvetadze – Watford

Leicester were interested in Giorgi Chakvetadze ahead of the January transfer window but ultimately, nothing materialised.

The Georgian playmaker has enjoyed a productive season in the Championship, registering nine goal involvements from midfield.

Chakvetadze would be a suitable replacement for El Khannouss, who will likely be one of the first to leave the King Power Stadium.

The 25-year-old is widely considered one of the best players in the division.

Callum Doyle – Norwich City (on loan from Manchester City)

In hindsight, Leicester made a big error in not signing Callum Doyle on a permanent deal after his impressive loan spell with the Foxes.

Whenever Doyle featured in Enzo Maresca’s side, he looked the business as a third centre-back and at left-back.

The Manchester City star is now on loan at Norwich City, where he has continued to impress, registering an impressive seven assists from defence.

Leicester should seriously consider bringing Doyle back to the club on a permanent basis.
