What Ruud van Nistelrooy did in the 45th minute vs Man City shows he’s completely lost at Leicester

Leicester City suffered a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City on Wednesday evening which almost certainly seals their relegation fate.

Leicester player ratings didn’t make for pretty reading, with Mads Hermansen and Wilfried Ndidi scoring particularly low.

The Foxes just didn’t look confident of picking up a result from minute one, with Jack Grealish opening the scoring straight after kick-off.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side failed to register a single shot on target and it’s becoming clear that the 5-3-2 experiment just isn’t working.

Van Nistelrooy has come under criticism from Leicester fans in recent weeks for his team selections and what he did in the 45th minute shows he’s completely lost.

Oliver Skipp sub shows Ruud van Nistelrooy is lost

With the Foxes 2-0 down heading into the half-time break, many would expect attacking substitutes to try and change the game.

However, Van Nistelrooy instead opted to take his talisman Jamie Vardy off for midfielder Oliver Skipp, who’s hardly had a look in all season.

Clearly, it proves the Dutchman has next to no belief in his group of players as he was already focused on damage limitations despite a typically overturnable scoreline.

Van Nistelrooy’s Skipp substitute effectively waved the white flag on the season and perhaps even his Leicester career.

Looking increasingly likely Van Nistelrooy leaves

It now seems almost inevitable Van Nistelrooy won’t be in the Leicester dugout at the start of next season.

The supporters have completely turned on him and there are already links beginning to surface around his replacement.

Leicester are reportedly eyeing Liam Rosenior as van Nistelrooy’s successor, having impressed in Ligue 1 with Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.

The French outfit reside in sixth place and are in the race for a Champions League spot, so he’s done a fabulous job since leaving Hull City.

Rosenior would be a real coup for the Foxes.
