A former Leicester City star will be hoping he can finally turn around his fortunes after ending his wait for a goal.

While the Foxes struggle to adapt to life under Steve Cooper, some of the players who departed the King Power Stadium have also had less-than-ideal starts at their new clubs.

One of those who hasn’t made a huge impact is Kelechi Iheanacho at Sevilla, but now, things could be about to change.

Kelechi Iheanacho scores first goals for Sevilla since Leicester City move

Iheanacho chose not to renew his contract after the Championship-winning 2023/24 season, bringing the curtain down on six years at Leicester.

After interest from several clubs, the Nigeria international swapped England for Spain to join Sevilla.

But despite being handed the number nine shirt, Iheanacho has failed to set the world alight and some reports even claimed that the La Liga side were pondering selling him in January.

However, Iheanacho showed fans what he is capable of by scoring two goals in their Copa del Rey victory against Las Rozas.

It was the 28-year-old’s fourth start of the season but the first where he had played a full 90 minutes.

Former Leicester teammate admits he misses Kelechi Iheanacho

Iheanacho was always a popular figure during his time in the East Midlands, bringing smiles and joys to everyone affiliated with the club.

One of those who enjoyed his company most was international teammate Wilfred Ndidi.

The two formed an unbreakable friendship and the midfielder revealed that he misses seeing his Nigerian counterpart every day.

“I still miss him, he joined just six months after me. And playing together for the national team was amazing” he admitted.

“But he’s done best for himself”.
