Leicester City could be given the green light to reignite their interest in one of their sister club’s prized talents.

The Foxes were very quiet in the transfer window, with Leicester signing one player last month.

Several names were linked throughout the course of the window but either missed out on them entirely or were nothing more than rumours.

One of those targets looked like he was heading to West Ham United but he remained at the Foxes’ sister club OH Leuven.

Now that the window has closed, Leicester may have been given the all clear to sign the teenage talent but have been told to act quick.

Leicester City transfer news: Ezechiel Banzuzi will be allowed to leave Leuven in the summer

Ezechiel Banzuzi was wanted by the Foxes in a £12m deal back in January but appeared to miss out after Monaco and West Ham both agreed deals to sign the 19-year-old.

For one reason or another the move broken down but the Dutch youth international has continued to catch the eye.

With his stocks rising every week, a move away from the Belgian top flight feels inevitable and Leuven, who are affiliated to Leicester via the same ownership, have confirmed that Banzuzi will leave in the summer.

Leuven technical director Gyorgy Csepregi told Nieuwsblad: “We agreed with Eze that he will finish the season.

“In the summer we will definitely give him the next step. He has completely outgrown the competition, right? He plays on one leg.”

PSR fears stopped Leicester from being active in the recent window and with those concerns set to ease in the summer, Banzuzi may come back on the Foxes’ radar.

Ezechiel Banzuzi told to focus ahead of summer transfer

Banzuzi is still very young so has the ceiling to improve and get better, but still has to keep his eye on the prize.

Leuven are currently sat one point and one place outside the relegation play-offs and was sent off against Mechelen last month.

Some would see that as a huge negative, however, Csepregi feels that the time on the sidelines can help him refocus – especially after the madness of the transfer window.

He added: “I don’t talk to him about transfers and money, only with his brothers and agent.

“But it’s logical that a 19-year-old boy who gets interest from clubs in La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Premier League, isn’t fully focused for a while. You saw that in the matches.

“But I would have that too. I can’t blame him and maybe it’s even a good thing now that he’s suspended. That way we can give him some space this week, to make the switch next week.”
