Leicester City are in the race for Crystal Palace youngster Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but face competition from four other Championship sides for the loan capture of his services.

According to Alan Nixon, the Foxes and Ipswich Town had led the initial interest in the 20-year-old, but now three other sides have emerged and put their case forward to the Palace winger – Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Hull City being the trio mentioned.

The plan for Rak-Sakyi was unclear at the start of the summer with Roy Hodgson’s squad seemingly stretched at Selhurst Park, but it is now evident that the London-born ace will be allowed to leave the club on loan again this season.

He spent the last campaign on loan at Charlton Athletic where he excelled in League One, registering 25 goal contributions and showcasing his ability to play at a higher level.

Picking up both the Addicks’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards, Rak-Sakyi now looks destined to test himself in the Championship this season with a host of sides hot on his heels.

Leicester are in need of an extra player out wide, so Enzo Maresca will be hoping to stay ahead of the race with this one as he looks to strengthen depth in his attacking third this summer.

New signing Stephy Mavididi and long-reigning servant Marc Albrighton are joined by youngsters Kasey McAteer and Wanya Marcal-Madivadua at Maresca’s disposal in the winger roles at present. Adding Rak-Sakyi into the mix would provide healthy competition and quality to the Foxes’ ranks.

Is Rak-Sakyi the man?

Labelled ‘incredible’ by Charlton boss Dean Holden, now is the right time for the England Under-20s international to make the step up and show his capabilities in the second tier.

If Leicester are able to beat off competition from their fellow Championship competitors then it would be another statement of intent following a string of already impressive signings.

The ball is now in Rak-Sakyi’s court, only time will tell as to whether or not he will be walking out at the King Power to represent the Foxes in the near future.
