Leicester City have identified a former Premier League star in a potential loan move.

The summer transfer window has seen Steve Cooper prioritise bringing both midfielders and attackers to the King Power Stadium.

The departure of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall saw bids fly in for the likes of Matt O’Riley, however any deal has not quite come into fruition at this point, despite Leicester City at one point being in ‘pole position’ to sign the Danish international.

As for attackers, Matias Soule was heavily linked with a move to Leicestershire, however Roma managed to sneak in front and sign the Argentinian winger.

Unlike in midfield, Cooper has made significant progress in signings in attack, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid already confirmed at the club, as well as the likely loan signing of Facundo Buonanotte.

Despite Cooper bringing in the Premier League wide pair, he has identified another potential option who is ‘available’ to leave his club on loan.

Leicester City interested in former Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha on loan

Wilfried Zaha has been made available by parent club Galatasaray, despite a successful debut campaign in the Super Lig last season, where he scored nine goals in 30 appearances.

As a result, both Leicester City and his former club Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Zaha, per David Ornstein on X.

The loan, which ‘would include loan fee’, would see Leicester City attain the services of a winger with a spectacular 68 Premier League goals in his career, all of which came for Crystal Palace in his nine seasons with the Eagles.

Leicester City at this point are a step ahead of their Premier League rivals, with the Foxes already ‘in talks to do [a] deal’, whilst Crystal Palace have only ‘explored’ the potential signing.

Wilfred Zaha provides the guaranteed Premier League ability Leicester City need

As statement signings come for newly-promoted sides, they don’t often get much bigger than a return to the Premier League for Wilfred Zaha.

The Ivorian, who has 33 caps for his country, will be able to guarantee goal scoring ability at Premier League level, even coming off the back of a season in the Super Lig.

Zaha averaged 7.5 goals per season whilst at Crystal Palace, and scored 32 in total in his last three seasons in the Premier League, showing that he still has the ability to thrive, and did so for such a long time for what was often a bottom half Premier League side.

The 31-year-old winger was Crystal Palace’s lifeline in ensuring they have stayed in the Premier League for so long, and was undoubtedly the Eagles’ key player for the best part of the decade, and there is no doubt that he’’ be able to follow up that form in a season with Leicester City.

Aside from the ability of Zaha, to get him on a loan will be massively beneficial on the financial side, and tops of what would be a perfect deal for Leicester City ahead of the Premier League season.
