Leicester City plot ‘late move’ for ‘outstanding’ striker who’s been made available on loan

Leicester City may actually sign a player on transfer deadline day despite previous claims they would not.

It has been a very, very quiet Friday for the Foxes, with zero additions made at the King Power Stadium so far.

Steve Cooper will have been pleased to get a deal for midfielder Bilal El Khannouss over the line on Thursday, but there has been little movement so far today.

Sky Sports News reported at lunchtime that Leicester City were not expected to sign anyone on deadline day.

This comes with Cooper being largely happy with the deals he has been able to complete so far this summer.

However, while the Midlands outfit have done some good business so far, a new striker could now be on his way to the club before the window slams shut.

Leicester City make late move for Odsonne Edouard

Leicester were linked with Chelsea’s Armando Broja earlier today but that transfer rumour has now gone cold.

However, another Premier League forward is now being tipped to join the newly-promoted side.

Telegraph journalist John Percy reported on X/Twitter that Leicester are considering a move for Crystal Palace’s Odsonne Edouard.

He wrote: “Leicester are exploring a late move to sign Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard, who has been made available on loan.

“Edouard set to leave before the deadline with Eddie Nketiah expected to join from Arsenal”

What will Odsonne Edouard bring to Leicester City

Edouard joined Crystal Palace in August of 2021. Prior to that, he was plying his trade in Scotland with Celtic.

The 26-year-old scored 87 times in 179 outings for the Hoops and earned high praise from former manager Neil Lennon, who called him ‘outstanding’, as per The National.

Edouard has been less prolific since his move to the Premier League, netting 21 and assisting five in 105 outings for the Eagles.

But Leicester cannot be too picky about what striker they bring in this close to the deadline.

The Foxes lack firepower up front, even with the addition of Jordan Ayew, but the Frenchman’s arrival should boost their chances of survival in 2024/25.
