A new era is about to begin for Leicester City.

Steve Cooper has been sacked and Leicester have turned to Ruud van Nistelrooy to steer them away from the relegation battle.

Van Nistelrooy was in the stands against Brentford on the weekend and will take charge of his first game on Tuesday against fellow strugglers West Ham United.

The Dutchman led training for the first time today and will already be plotting his starting line-up for the King Power Stadium clash.

Van Nistelrooy is expected to be given funds in the Janaury transfer window and it’s just come to light that the club are keeping close tabs on a highly-rated playmaker on the continent.

Leicester keeping tabs on Malik Tilman

According to OntheMinute, Leicester are keeping close tabs on PSV playmaker Malik Tilman ahead of the January transfer window.

Tilman, who has plied his trade at Bayern Munich previously, is enjoying a really productive season in the Dutch League.

The 22-year-old has netted eight times whilst laying on four assists already and has put a number of clubs on red alert.

Premier League duo Ipswich Town and Brighton are both keeping a close eye on Tilman, so Leicester face stiff competition for his signature.

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also keen on the promising midfielder.

Tilman likened to Paul Pogba

Tilman has likened himself to former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

“When I play as a No.8 or No.10, my playing style is similar to Paul Pogba’s,” he told Sports Bild.

“I like him a lot. I really like how he plays. He’s something of a role model for me.”

Tilman, who stands at 6 ft 2, is a towering midfielder like the Frenchman but remains really graceful with the ball despite his height.

Suitors will have to pay around £30m to land his signature this winter.
