Manchester City could start transfer domino which may see Leicester sign £20m ‘wonderkid’

Leicester City are struggling to adapt to life back in the Premier League.

The Foxes have won just three of their 19 games back in the top flight following their promotion from the Championship.

Ruud van Nistelrooy managed to get a couple of positive results when he took over from Steve Cooper but his side are now on a five-game losing streak.

So, it’s pretty evident Leicester need to make additions to their squad this January transfer window, otherwise, they’re set to go straight back down.

Leicester are looking at Udinese centre-back Thomas Kristensen and Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

They are also expected to add attacking players to their ranks and Manchester City could be about to start a transfer domino effect which could see City sign a playmaker from the Premier League champions.

Man City signing Omar Marmoush could force James McAtee exit

According to The Guardian, Manchester City are keen on signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.

The Citizens are looking to strike a £50m deal for Marmoush and the report claims that his potential arrival would likely see James McAtee pushed to the exit door.

Leicester tried to sign McAtee during the summer of 2023 and have been linked with a move for the ‘wonderkid’ ever since.

However, Pep Guardiola’s insistence to keep him following his loan spell at Sheffield United last season forced Leicester and other suitors to look elsewhere.

That could all be about to change, though, as it seems McAtee is set to become available this month if City land their desired target.

Fulham and Ipswich are currently showing an interest and any deal would likely be a loan unless his £20m price is met.

Leicester should go back in for James McAtee

Leicester are actually well-stocked in their attacking midfield ranks with Bilal El Khannouss and Facundo Buonanotte.

But with the latter due to return to Brighton in the summer following his season-long loan, City do need to start planning ahead.

McAtee would be the ideal long-term successor to Buonanotte and for £20m, it seems too good of a deal to turn down.

If he continues to develop and fulfil his promise, that fee will look like a bargain in a couple of years time.
