Leicester City are preparing to travel to London to take on Chelsea in one of Sunday’s two featured Premier League matchups.

The Foxes have endured an abysmal season with Ruud van Nistelrooy not expected to remain in his position much beyond May.

Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge will be the 126th meeting between these two teams, but their history extends beyond matches played.

A total of 14 players have turned out for both clubs over the years, including big names like N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater — not everyone is as well remembered as those two, though.

Here are a few you might’ve forgotten…

One of Leicester City’s modern day legends, Andy King had some memorable moments in a Leicester kit after dedicating most of his career to the club.

Although King is best known for his 16 years with the Foxes, his first club was actually Chelsea. The Welshman signed for the Blues’ youth academy in 1998 before moving to Leicester City’s under-19s in 2004.

King failed to make a single senior appearance for Chelsea but played 379 times for Leicester City and was part of Claudio Ranieri’s 2015-16 Premier League title winning squad.

Jeffrey Bruma joined Chelsea’s youth academy from Feyenoord in 2007 and was promoted to their first team in 2009.

During his six years at Stamford Bridge, Bruma made just 10 senior appearances. He endured several loan spells including a few months with Leicester City.

Bruma joined the Foxes in February 2011 and managed to score two goals in just 11 games before returning to Chelsea and later joining PSV for around £10 million.

Although still playing, Bruma is without a club since leaving Dutch side RKC Waalwijk at the end of last season.

Mark Schwarzer

Not only is Mark Schwarzer Leicester City’s oldest ever player, but he is part of an elite list.

The Australian, who made 520 appearances in England’s top-flight, is part of the Premier League’s “500 club” alongside Gareth Barry, Ryan Giggs, James Milner, Frank Lampard, David James, Gary Speed, Emile Heskey, Jamie Carragher, Phil Neville, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, and Sol Campbell.

To this day, the legendary Australian remains the only player from outside the UK to play in over 500 Premier League matches.

Although the majority of the keeper’s appearances came during his 11 years with Middlesbrough (441) and five years with Fulham (220), Schwarzer did also enjoy brief spells with Leicester City and Chelsea.

The Sydney-born shot-stopper joined Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer in 2013. He made 12 appearances for the Blues before signing for Leicester City, also on a free transfer, during the 2015 January transfer window.

The following 18 months saw Schwarzer keep one clean sheet in 11 games for the Foxes before announcing his retirement at the end of the 2015-16 season.

Robert Huth

Robert Huth is best remembered for the part he played in Leicester City’s Premier League title win in 2015-16. However, the German actually lifted more trophies during an earlier spell with Chelsea.

Huth joined Chelsea’s youth academy after leaving Union Berlin’s under-17s in 2001. The now-retired centre-back was promoted to the Blues’ first team where he made 62 appearances in four years.

Huth lifted back-to-back Premier League titles in London in 2004-05 and 2005-06, as well as the 2005 League Cup.

Leaving Stamford Bridge in 2006, Huth joined Middlesbrough, and Stoke City three seasons later, before eventually signing for Leicester City for £3 million in 2015.

The German went on to feature 92 times for the Foxes before announcing his retirement in 2018.

Dennis Wise

There isn’t a player who has played for Leicester City and Chelsea who is more divisive than Dennis Wise.

The midfielder enjoyed 11 successful years at Stamford Bridge where he lifted five trophies, including two FA Cups.

However, Wise’s 2001 move to then-Walkers Stadium for a little over £1 million turned out to be Leicester City’s worst-ever piece of transfer business.

Not only was Wise one of the Foxes’ highest earners at the time, but he made just 19 appearances for the club before his contract was terminated in August 2002 following a serious incident with a teammate.

After an internal investigation and subsequent hearing took place, Wise was deemed to have assaulted teammate Callum Davidson in a hotel room during Leicester City’s pre-season tour in Finland in the summer of 2002.

The incident is said to have occurred after Davidson asked teammates to stop playing cards and leave his hotel room so he could get some sleep. Wise’s response was to return to the room and attack Davidson while he slept. The former Chelsea man’s premeditated attack left Davidson with a broken nose and broken cheekbone in two places.

Unsurprisingly, the midfielder’s deal was ripped up, costing him around £3 million in lost wages with supporters also washing their hands of him.
