Leicester City on the road in the Premier League this weekend face one of their biggest tests of the season as they come up against Arsenal.

The Foxes are back in league action just days after limping past League Two Walsall in a penalty shootout win in the Carabao Cup.

Form has been hard to come by for Steve Cooper’s side, who are yet to win a game in the top flight this season and are huge underdogs for the trip to London.

Arsenal meanwhile have started the season strongly and were seconds away from beating Manchester City last weekend, only to concede in stoppage time.

This fixture has been notoriously hard for Leicester City in the past, with wins hard to come by, but everyone at the club will be hoping they can pull off a famous win at the Emirates Stadium.

Let’s look at the last five meetings between Arsenal and Leicester.

Leicester City 0-1 Arsenal, 25 February, 2023

In a season to forget for the Foxes, a 1-0 defeat against Arsenal was probably not as bad as fans first feared.

Gabriel Martinelli’s goal just a minute after the second-half restart was enough for the Gunners to take home all three points to leave Brendan Rodgers’ side three points above the relegation zone.

As for Arsenal, it was the first time they had won three consecutive away games at the King Power Stadium since September 1925.

Arsenal 4-2 Leicester City, 13 August, 2022

On a baking hot day in north London, the home side dominated as Leicester felt the heat.

Gabriel Jesus bagged a brace for Mikel Arteta’s side and was also joined by Granit Xhaka and Martinelli.

A William Saliba own goal after Jesus’ double and a James Maddison cut the deficit to one on two separate occasions but it was never enough for the East Midlanders to try and snatch a point away from home.

Arsenal 2-0 Leicester City, 13 March, 2022

There is a running theme developing with these previous scorelines and this encounter was no different as Arsenal claimed all three points.

Thomas Partey opened the hosts’ account in the 11th minute and the Gunners were largely restricted until they won a penalty just before the hour-mark, which Alexandre Lacazette tucked away.

This was the first time Arsenal had completed a league double over the Foxes since the 2015/16 season.

Leicester City 0-2 Arsenal, 30 October, 2021

Once again it was Arsenal who were the victors, recording a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium.

The away side found themselves two goals to the good within 18 minutes as strikes from Gabriel and Emile Smith-Rowe gave Leicester a mountain to climb.

Aaron Ramsdale made an outstanding stop during the game, denying Maddison’s excellent free-kick but clawing it away at the last moment to preserve Arsenal’s clean sheet and inflict defeat on Leicester once again.

Leicester City 1-3 Arsenal, 28 February, 2021

Leicester and Arsenal were both in contrasting form at the time, with the Foxes challenging at the top of the table for a place in the Champions League.

Youri Tielemans’ first-half strike gave the hosts the lead but they were met with a resilient fightback from the away side.

Three second-half goals in the space of 17 minutes were enough to turn the game on its head and secure Arsenal the three points.

David Luiz equalised before Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe made sure of the points in a disappointing collapse for Leicester.

It would be one of the many results that would contribute towards the Foxes missing out on a top-four spot on the final day of the season.
