Leicester City ace with fewer touches than Hermansen was ‘anonymous’ v Sheff Wed

Cesare Casadei put in yet another disappointing display for Leicester City against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday night.

Leicester City failed to win again on Wednesday night when they faced Sheffield Wednesday. This was the third game they’ve failed to win in the last four.

After a rampant start to the season which seemed to indicate a record-breaking season multiple ways, has ground to a halt and last night’s 1-1 draw with Wednesday is possibly the worst game of the lot.

In the game, one player to really struggled was young Italian Cesare Casadei who is on loan from Chelsea currently. The youngster was anonymous in the game as Leicester failed to do much against Wednesday who are the league’s bottom side.

Cesare Casadei poor for Leicester

Following a game which saw Maresca heavily criticised by fans, Casadei caught critique from Leicestershire Live who rated his performance a 4/10.

They wrote: “It was another anonymous showing from the young Italian, who bar that bright game against Sunderland, has really struggled to make an impact over recent months. In the heart of the pitch, you can’t afford to go missing.”

That is the issue with Casadei, he is more anonymous than bad which in some ways is worse. He wasn’t great but with so few involvements in play, it’s hard to really judge.

Casadei had fewer touches in the game than Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen according to SofaScore. He had 30 while the Danish keeper had 51, an embarrassing stat for a central midfielder to have.

He also only won 50% of duels and wasn’t much better when he had the ball at his feet only making 71% of his 15 passes attempted.

A display that definitely won’t be endearing to Maresca anytime soon, and definitely not to the Leicester fanbase.

Casadei’s struggles continue

At Chelsea, Casadei was considered a massive talent and featured for their first team during pre-season. But he hasn’t shown much of that talent at the King Power Stadium since joining.

We imagine Mauricio Pochettinho won’t be pleased with how his development is going at Leicester given he’s not a regular and puts in awful displays when he is playing.

Clearly a move not destined to work out, the question is now if Leicester persist until the season’s end or possibly bring in another midfielder to bridge the gap.
