Leicester City return to Premier League action on Wednesday night as they host Crystal Palace.

It’s been an excellent couple of days for Leicester, who beat QPR 6-2 in the FA Cup and have now won their battle with the Premier League.

Leicester avoided a breach of PSR on Tuesday, despite many predicting the Foxes to suffer a points deduction as a result of their financial mismanagement.

However, coming out of the other side without a punishment holds them in good stead to survive this term, as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men are in 19th position but only two points from safety.

Paul Merson predicts Leicester City to beat Crystal Palace

Leicester may have lost five Premier League games on the bounce however, the visit of Palace is a game they should be targeting all three points from.

The Eagles are seven points above their opponents in 15th but have only collected four wins in 20 matches this term, emphasising their struggles.

So, ahead of the showdown at the King Power Stadium, Paul Merson thinks van Nistelrooy’s side will secure only their fourth win of the season.

Predicting Leicester to secure a 2-1 win, Merson wrote in his column for Sportskeeda: “If Leicester go on and win this, it really sets the cat among the pigeons. This is a cup final for them. It’s that stage of the season where Leicester should now be looking at games and prioritising the games they have a chance at winning. This is one such game in my opinion

“I don’t think Crystal Palace will get relegated. But I have a feeling they will lose this game. Leicester looked good when they played Manchester City and if they can repeat what they did in that game, they can get a positive result here.”

Leicester City team news and injury updates

Following their PSR verdict and thrashing QPR 6-2, Leicester have some positive momentum heading into their clash against Palace.

Leicester are also on the verge of signing Woyo Coulibaly, who will arrive from Serie A side Parma for around £3 million.

So, despite their lowly position in the table, there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful about the coming months and van Nistelrooy delivered further positive news in Monday’s press conference.

Van Nistelrooy confirmed Jannik Vestegaard is in contention to start after suffering an injury in the 2-1 loss against Aston Villa.

“He’s part of team training today. We’re expecting he can be there on Wednesday,” the Dutchman told the media.

While Vestegaard is back, the Leicester boss will still be without long-term absentees Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu along with key men in the shape of Wilfred Ndidi and Mads Hermansen.
