Leicester City faced Manchester United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Ruud van Nistelrooy named an unchanged XI for the game after the Leicester manager hinted he would use a 5-3-2 formation once again.

There was no place for Ricardo Pereira due to injury but it meant that Jamie Vardy was up top alongside Patson Daka once again.

As a Leicester legend, Vardy has developed a reputation for being a pantomime villain amongst opposition fans, as proved by one song Man United fans were heard singing.

Man United make Rooney reference with Jamie Vardy chant

The feud between the wives of Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney are very well known.

Known as ‘Wagatha Christie’, Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy’s differences went to court but for the Leicester striker, he’s just been focused on his football.

That didn’t stop the travelling United fans from trying to reference it by singing about their legendary striker by shouting ‘Rooney, Rooney, Rooney’ to the Foxes number nine.

Vardy is renowned for his wind-up celebrations but he didn’t retaliate or acknowledge the 3,300 odd away fans singing.

Jamie Vardy’s stats vs Man United

Vardy has a great record against certain clubs and Man United is one of those.

Van Nistelrooy had his record taken away by Vardy in 2015 and since then, the number nine has been a thorn in their sides.

The 38-year-old hasn’t scored in every game against Man United but in his early Premier League days did like to find the back of the net.
