Alan Shearer has predicted a difficult afternoon for Leicester City as they make the trip to Crystal Palace.

Leicester City will be hoping to get their first win on the board as they face Crystal Palace on their travels this weekend in the Premier League.

The Foxes have already endured an away-day in London after they were undone by Fulham at Craven Cottage, a game that showed very little to build on for Steve Cooper’s side.

However, coming off the back of a home defeat against Champions League outfit Aston Villa, Cooper will have taken plenty from the game after Leicester City certainly took the game to the opposition.

The trip to Crystal Palace will be a stern test, but one that will prove whether Cooper’s side have it in them to potentially stay up in the Premier League this season, however Alan Shearer predicts a difficult afternoon for the Foxes.

Alan Shearer predicts Leicester City defeat despite ‘interesting’ PSR saga

Shearer can’t see Leicester City getting their first win on the board as they face a crucial tie against Crystal Palace, who also have just one point at this stage of the campaign.

Despite the brilliant news off the pitch that the Foxes will not be deducted any points as a result of the PSR saga, there was the chance that this news could help the Foxes change their ‘fortunes’, however the leading Premier League goalscorer of all time doesn’t believe so.

Per The Metro, Shearer said: “Everything eventually feeds down into the dressing room, whatever is going on at a football club, players will be talking about it, whether in the open or privately to each other.

“It’ll be interesting to see if the news around Leicester changes their fortune.

“Having said that, it shouldn’t really impact the players. This will be another tough game for Leicester, and I think with the forward players that Crystal Palace have, I’ll go for a home [Crystal Palace] win.”

Leicester City trip to Crystal Palace is the first six-pointer for Steve Cooper

There is no doubt that Leicester City were given a difficult start to the 2024/25 Premier League season, and coming away with just one point against both Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa certainly isn’t the end of the world.

However, the upcoming game against Crystal Palace will prove whether Leicester City have it in them this season to build on the promotion from the 2023/24 campaign, as early performances from the Eagles have suggested that they very well could be down there as well this season.

Cooper’s side must take advantage of the fact that Crystal Palace are out of form and have shown very few signs of improvement so far this campaign, and whilst Leicester City will be without Odsonne Edouard due to him being unable to play against his parent club, they will most certainly be looking to go against Shearer’s prediction and come out with a victory.
