Steve Cooper will be desperate to secure new additions prior to the end of the transfer window to give his Leicester City side the best chance of Premier League survival.

Leicester City started the season with a surprise 1-1 draw with Tottenham before falling to a 2-1 defeat away at Fulham at the weekend.

Having been lucky to take anything from the Spurs game in which they were largely second best, Steve Cooper‘s side again struggled at Craven Cottage despite the narrow scoreline.

The Leicester boss wants to add to the seven arrivals this summer and is particularly keen on brining in a centre-forward and another attacking midfielder despite Facundo Buonanotte’s bright start to life at the Foxes.

However, outgoings could also happen this week and one player who is key to Leicester’s survival hopes could now push for an exit.

Wout Faes could leave Leicester City before transfer deadline

Wout Faes has been a pivotal player for Leicester since signing in summer 2022 and was a key part of the side that won the Championship last season.

The Belgium international has started Cooper’s first two competitive games in charge too, suggesting he is expected to remain one of the first names on the team sheet.

Therefore, it would be a crushing blow to lose Faes at this stage of the summer, but that is exactly what could happen as the centre-back appears to have become disillusioned with life at the King Power.

That is according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who posted on X: “It could move also for Wout Faes!

“Not happy with his current situation, Wout Faes had a talk with Leicester leaders.

“Player didn’t want to play on the left side of the defence and surprised with the lack of new recruitments in the team… Faes now looking for a solution on a likely departure before the end of the window…”

Steve Cooper cannot afford to lose Faes this summer

Leicester simply cannot allow Faes to leave before Friday’s transfer deadline and must do all they can to convince him not to push for an exit.

Whilst the position he plays should be at the digression of his manager, it is no surprise that Faes would have liked to see a few more signings arrive at the club this summer.

The 26-year-old has seen the club sell their best player in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and the only defensive addition to help him is Caleb Okoli who has been on the bench for the first two games of the season.

Faes is crucial to Leicester, with Okoli, Jannik Vestergaard and the injured Conor Coady the only other senior centre-backs at the club.

Therefore, The Foxes hierarchy should do everything in their power to convince Faes to stay until at least January with so little time left to find a replacement.
