Ruud van Nistelrooy has finally been confirmed as the new manager of Leicester City.

Leicester City sacked Steve Cooper on November 24th after just 12 Premier League games in charge of the club.

Cooper fell out with several Foxes players during his brief time at the King Power Stadium and has the club sat just one point from safety going into the weekend.

A number of names were linked to replace the former Nottingham Forest man but, finally, Leicester have confirmed the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Midlands outfit are in league action against Brentford on Saturday afternoon but Van Nistelrooy will not manage Leicester vs the Bees.

Instead, assistant coach Ben Dawson will be the man in the dugout for the trip down south to the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Leicester coach took the pre-Brentford press conference on Friday morning and spoke about a number of topics.

Dawson gave his verdict on the Cooper sacking and shared what he did after he found out about the news.

A Harry Winks injury update was also provided ahead of the meeting with Thomas Frank’s men.

Elsewhere, the coach was quizzed on the then-impending arrival of Van Nistelrooy but was coy in his response at the time.

However, he was asked what a new manager needs to bring to Leicester, giving a very clear answer.

He said: “I think in these situations, it’s about stability. Everybody wants certainty. As soon as a decision is made, everybody can get behind that person and move forward.”

What Ben Dawson said about Brentford vs Leicester City

While much of the attention is now on the new Leicester manager, Dawson’s primary focus is Brentford.

The Foxes could slip into the bottom three once more if they lose to the Bees, with just one point separating them and 18th.

On how he will approach the Brentford tie, he said: “We take a bit of everything. I think there were good elements in how Steve was getting the team to play. But there are areas to improve.”

The Leicester coach also detailed how the players have performed in training this week.

He added: “Training has been good as any week since I’ve been at the football club.”

This will be music to the ears of the Foxes faithful given the way Leicester players reacted to the Cooper exit, showing clear unprofessionalism and disrespect.
