Leicester City were undone by Manchester City despite a well-battled display on Sunday.

Goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland were enough to earn the visitors a first win since 4 December and inflict a fourth straight defeat on the Foxes.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side are still in the relegation zone, two points adrift, following Wolves’ late equaliser at Tottenham Hotspur.

Several Leicester stars impressed against Man City as they went head-to-head with the Premier League champions, but it sadly wasn’t enough.

Erling Haaland heaps praise on Leicester City after close-fought win

Victory for the away side came for a relief to everyone associated with the Premier League champions.

Pep Guardiola looked a much happier manager and for Haaland it was also a huge weight off his shoulders as he ended a run of four games without a goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the win, the 24-year-old admitted that he was glad to help Man City halt their poor run of form and had plenty of praise for Leicester’s performance.

He said: “Good to win. I’m just happy we are winning.

“It is important to look ahead. We have to focus on the right things.

“It is always a relief when you score. It was an important goal to go 2-0 up. Leicester played really well, we knew it would be difficult. It’s been a difficult time.”

Erling Haaland outshines Leicester City inspiration

Haaland is one of the best players in world football but he still managed to go up against one of his footballing inspirations on Sunday.

Back in 2022, Haaland revealed he studied Jamie Vardy’s style of play to improve his own game and he even managed to outperform the 37-year-old.

Vardy squandered a number of chances including a great opportunity in the second half that would’ve brought the Foxes level.

The Norwegian was much quieter throughout the 90 but put the ball in the back of the net at a crucial time to put Man City out of sight and earn his team a much-needed three points.
