Europa League holders Sevilla want to sign Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumaré on a permanent basis this summer.

The 24-year-old is currently spending the season on loan at the Spanish club, with his impressive start not going unnoticed.

His current loan deal has an option to buy at the end of the season, with the deal worth in the region of £12.5 million, should they wish to trigger the clause.

According to Sports Witness, Sevilla are determined to complete the deal for Soumare after multiple good performances in La Liga and the Europa League.

Soumare impressing away from the King Power

Soumare joined the Foxes from French side Lille for a deal worth £18 million back in 2021, where he’s made 45 appearances for the club.

After relegation last season, the 24-year-old wanted to leave the club – in order to play higher-level football.

He joined Sevilla where it is safe to say he’s made a good impression despite only starting three times so far this campaign.

Although they suffered defeat, Soumare played a crucial role against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Tuesday night – making four tackles, the most of anyone on the pitch.

Would £12.5m be a good deal for Soumare?

Although he joined the club with a lot of promise, Soumare has never hit the heights expected – but he has produced a number of good performances.

Should he depart the King Power for the £12.5 million release clause in his loan deal, it would mean a loss of around £5m – but would give Enzo Maresca a decent sum to work with to bolster his Leicester squad.
