A number of Leicester City’s stars have had the pleasure of playing with some of the biggest names in football.

For example, many play with Jamie Vardy right now, who isn’t just a Leicester legend, but an icon of Premier League history.

Wilfred Ndidi, Jannik Vestergaard, James Justin and more have all played with some of the biggest names in the world on the domestic and international stage.

However, only one of the Leicester players have played with Cristiano Ronaldo – albeit briefly.

As a young teenager playing for Juventus, Stephy Mavididi found himself in the same team as Ronaldo before leaving in the summer of 2020 just like the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Mavididi only played for Juventus’ senior side once but trained with the Portuguese star and recalled what it was like to play alongside a player of his calibre.

Stephy Mavididi opens up on playing with Cristiano Ronaldo as a teenager

During his time Juventus, Mavididi was fortunate enough to play with players like Gianluigi Buffon and Paulo Dybala, but, it was Ronaldo that stood out more than any other.

The winger, who came through Arsenal’s academy before spells abroad, recalled one particular training session with the former Manchester United man where he was left waiting for an age to complete a training drill due to Ronaldo’s quality.

He told TNT Sports: “I remember one time we had a session with crossing and finishing.

“Normally, if you miss, then the next person goes and there were four or five of us. I remember that he stayed on for 13 crosses from each side in a row because he kept finishing everything.

“I think it got to a stage where we just walked in because we couldn’t get a kick, we couldn’t get a chance. That’s one that will stick with me.

“I had to adapt very quickly. It was difficult, I’m not going to lie, there were some hard times, but at the same time, you’re training with world-class players in a fantastic facility. No better place to learn.”

Stephy Mavididi hopes to guide Leicester City to Premier League survival

After an emphatic debut campaign with Leicester in the 2023/24 season, life has been a bit more difficult for Mavididi.

The 26-year-old has started 16 of the 25 games in all competitions this season and scored five goals so far.

Premier League survival is the sole aim for Leicester right now and with the Foxes 19th in the table and just 13 games to save themselves, the odds are stacked against them.

But, even though many have tipped them to go down, Mavididi is confident that he and his teammates can keep the Foxes in the top flight.

We’ve got a run of games now where it’s going to be crucial for our season,” he said.

“Hopefully we do see brighter days. We’re coming towards the business end and hopefully we can get over the line.”
