Leicester City supporters have experienced some unbelievable highs over the past decade, including multiple trophy wins.

Leicester City’s Premier League title win in 2016 will go down as one of the greatest achievements of the modern era, with Jose Mourinho praising Claudio Ranieri for masterminding such a feat.

The Foxes then got to experience Champions League football in 2016/17, something they also never envisaged happening after battling against relegation two years previous.

An incredible five years was capped off in 2021 when Leicester City beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final, thanks to a thunderbolt from Youri Tielemans.

Luke Thomas and Jamie Vardy are the only two survivors from the starting lineup that won at Wembley Stadium, and the latter made a bold prediction afterwards that hasn’t come true.

Jamie Vardy saw Leicester City challenging for more trophies after FA Cup win

Under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, Leicester played some excellent football as Vardy continued to spearhead the attack.

However, following the FA Cup triumph, the Foxes experienced a downward spiral and a club once challenging the leagues elite were eventually relegated back to the Championship in 2023.

Leicester sacked Rodgers in April 2023, but that proved to be a mistake, as Dean Smith was the man who replaced him for a short spell in the dugout.

For Vardy, it will be have been bitterly disappointing to have experienced a relegation on his CV as the veteran forward felt they could challenge for more trophies after winning the FA Cup.

“We’ve managed to do it, but when the gaffer came in over two years ago, he said he wanted to keep progressing, how he wanted to play, and he wanted us to be challenging for trophies,” Vardy said via the Yorkshire Post in May 2021.

“Now we’ve got one, we’re going to be wanting some more. It’s hard work, dedication and we want to progress as much as we can.”

“You can see with how he’s got us playing, he wants us to play a certain way and that’s exactly what we’re doing. Everyone’s bought into it.”

Vardy set to suffer a second relegation at Leicester City

Frustratingly, Leicester were unable to keep up their momentum after winning the FA Cup as they continuously sold their best players without replacing them.

Leicester fans have criticised Jon Rudkin for numerous occasions this term for carrying out an unacceptable transfer policy, which included only signing one player in January.

As a result, their lack of planning in the transfer market and poor managerial appointments could result in relegation.

Leicester fans wanted Ruud van Nistelrooy sacked after the defeat to West Ham, as it was their 11th defeat in 12 league games.

It’s seen the Foxes get cut five points adrift in the bottom three, and barring any miracles, Vardy will suffer a second relegation this season.
