Former Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel believes that Denmark’s future is in safe hands thanks to one current Fox.
Schmeichel spent 11 glorious years at the King Power Stadium before departing in the summer of 2022.
Despite never wanting to leave, Schmeichel still loves Leicester and at 38, is playing regularly for Celtic and the Danish national team.
Waiting in the wings though is a current Danish Leicester star, who has been tipped for big things by the legend.
Kasper Schmeichel singles out Mads Hermansen ahead of Portugal vs Denmark
Denmark are currently preparing for the second leg of their Nations League quarter final against Portugal, where they have a 1-0 lead going into the tie.
Barring any mishaps, Schmeichel will start in goals with Jannik Vestergaard, who pocketed Cristiano Ronaldo last time out, will line up in defence.
Fellow Leicester first-teamer Mads Hermansen will be on the bench and therefore continue his wait for a first cap.

Despite that, his direct competitor has tipped him for big things. Speaking to Danish outlet Bold, he said: “Both Mads Hermansen and Filip Jorgensen have impressed and proven that they belong on the top shelf.
“It bodes well for the future of Danish football and I look forward to seeing more of them in the future, because they are two really talented goalkeepers.”
Kasper Schmeichel vs Mads Hermansen H2H stats 24/25
Both goalkeepers have been in fine form this season, despite their contrasting seasons at club level.
For Schmeichel, he’s been exceptional in goal for Celtic, winning a trophy and reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League and is likely to win the Treble too.
On the other hand, Hermansen is part of a weak Leicester side who, despite his best efforts, look destined to return to the Championship.
| Stats | Kasper Schmeichel | Mads Hermansen |
| Appearances | 46 | 23 |
| Goals Conceded | 44 | 49 |
| Clean Sheets | 24 | 1 |
He also had two months out injured, affecting the number of games played but with only one clean sheet so far this season, it’s a far cry to what he’d have expected at the start.
Hermansen is likely to leave the Foxes this summer and a big-money move could be enough to see him dislodge Schmeichel and become Denmark’s number one.
