Leicester City handed small Premier League lifeline as FA reach Matheus Cunha verdict

Leicester City fans will do anything they can to cling onto any small hope of Premier League survival they have left.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side are cast astray, second from bottom in the Premier League table and nine points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers with as many games of the season remaining.

It’s been horrid viewing for the majority of the year, with Chris Sutton saddened by Leicester’s fall from grace.

Still, until it’s mathematically over, the Foxes refuse to give up and the latest news involving Wolves’ star man could be the glimmer of hope they need.

FA hand Matheus Cunha additional one-game ban

Whilst Leicester still have their own problems to sort, any other disadvantage to opposition sides around them can help ignite the flame to start a run of form that will keep the Foxes in the top flight.

Wolves are realistically the only side that Leicester can catch and the West Midlands outfit have looked much-improved under Vitor Pereira and thanks to Matheus Cunha.

Cunha’s goals have put the west Midlanders in a healthy position, however, he was recently suspended for violent conduct against Bournemouth in their FA Cup defeat.

In a statement, the FA confirmed that the Brazil international’s ban had been extended by a further two games and he will now miss fixtures against West Ham United and Ipswich Town.

When do Leicester City play Wolves?

There’s still some time before the Foxes face the side placed 17th in the Premier League and as it stands, there is a lot riding on that game.

Should the gap between the two teams stay as it is when the two meet on Saturday 26 April, Wolves could relegate the Foxes – so long as they avoid defeat.

For Van Nistelrooy and co though, there is a difficult run of games to contend with before their trip to Molineux.

Games against Manchester City, Carabao Cup winners Newcastle United and champions elect Liverpool are all to come, by which point things could be all over, or a rapid turnaround in form leaves Leicester in contention.
