Once the curtain comes down on the 2024/25 campaign, Leicester City fans will want to erase it from their memories.
From the start, when Leicester hired Steve Cooper and got their recruitment horribly wrong in the summer, to now where Ruud van Nistelrooy is captain of a sinking ship, it’s been a disaster from the moment they returned to the top-flight.
Alarmingly, the situation seems to get worse with every passing week, as Leicester’s 3-0 loss against Man United was their 13th in 14 games.
Van Nistelrooy is on track to create more unwanted history this season, as Southampton, Ipswich and the Foxes failing to take at least 23 points collectively from their final nine games will see them become the worst bottom three in Premier League history.
Supporters spending their hard-earned cash ultimately deserve better, and one former Premier League winner has delivered his verdict.

Chris Sutton says it’s ‘sad’ watching Leicester City
Chris Sutton won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers in 1995 and now regularly commentates on and gives his predictions for matches.
Ahead of their clash on Sunday, Sutton surprisingly tipped Leicester to draw against Man United, predicting a 1-1 draw.
The former Norwich City striker was over-optimistic with that prediction as he found out during the game, claiming it was ‘actually sad’ and ‘dull’ watching the Foxes under Van Nistelrooy.
“I’d have given up being angry a long time ago,” Sutton said via Leicestershire Live. “I’d have just started supporting somebody else because I mean they’ve been so desperate.
“Southampton have been terrible for a while now. I watched bits of the Leicester vs Manchester United game and I found it so dull, not from Manchester United’s perspective.
“It’s actually sad to see how bad Leicester actually are and how miles off it they are, a real lack of intensity. We’ve spoken about Leicester before on the Monday Night Club where I think their fanbase expected them to challenge higher up the table.”
Sutton’s verdict on sacking Steve Cooper for Ruud van Nistelrooy
Van Nistelrooy replaced Cooper in November, and since then, the Dutchman has broken multiple records for all the wrong reasons and tarnished his CV.
When asked about whether Leicester were right to sack Cooper and hire the 48-year-old in his place, Sutton said: “I didn’t think so. It was more to do, and this isn’t on Ruud van Nistelrooy, it’s not a criticism of him, the sort of muddled up, jumbled thinking of how he got the job.
“People can say what they like but it was off the back of a couple of results for Manchester United against them. But they’ve been bitterly disappointing, they’re going to go down.”

The former Manchester United striker arrived with barely any pedigree and lack of experience managing in England’s top-flight.
Some were initially excited about his appointment as he promised attacking football but it’s been the opposite, with even their defence getting worse.
Van Nistelrooy could, and perhaps will, go down as one of the worst managers in the clubs history.
