Leicester City remain hopeful of tying star duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho down to new contracts, as interest grows.

Sitting top of the Championship despite back-to-back losses, this season has been going to plan so far for Leicester City. But with the January transfer window set to open, the interest could arrive for two of the star players.

Kelechi Iheanacho has been linked with a move away already. Premier League sides are interested along with Inter Milan who are believed to be keen on signing him for free next summer.

Wilfred Ndidi is the other player who has drawn interest from the Premier League along with Spanish champions Barcelona.

But despite all this interest, Leicester remain hopeful that they can secure new deals for two of their star players.

Leicester keen on new deals for two players

According to Tom Collomosse who was reporting in the Daily Mail, Leicester are yet to give up in their efforts to find a new deal for the aforementioned duo.

He said: “They haven’t given up hope of agreeing new deals for Ndidi and Iheanacho.”

Both players are long-term Foxes and are definitely quality enough to be playing in the Premier League upon potential promotion.

Both Nigerian internationals will see their contracts expire in June unless an agreement can be made, and letting two players who are so valuable walk out the doors won’t be high on Leicester’s priority list.

Iheanacho and Ndidi contract details

Ndidi finds himself with just over six months left on his contract but now holds all the cards. He could sign a pre-contract in January which means Leicester need to move swiftly if they want to keep him.

Currently on £75k-a-week, Ndidi would likely be looking for a pay increase to remain at the King Power.

Meanwhile, Iheanacho is on £80k-a-week and again probably would request a pay increase considering the high interest in him.

Iheanacho would also be at risk in January so Leicester need to move quickly.
