Barcelona interested in Leicester midfielder

Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi is attracting interest from Spanish giants Barcelona.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barca are said to be keeping tabs on the Nigeria international ahead of a free transfer next summer when his contract expires at the King Power Stadium.

Barcelona are working under financial constraints, and are structuring their budget accordingly.

Ndidi is very likely to have a number of options this summer, so it will not be easy for Barca to secure his signature.

Ndidi has been a key figure for the Foxes this term, with Leicester currently top of the Championship after eight games.

The 26-year-old has been a prominent player in the side since his arrival from Belgian side Genk back in 2017.

He had been linked with a number of big clubs in the summer transfer window, with the likes of Liverpool and German champions Bayern Munich all interested in his signature.

It would be a big blow to Leicester for him to move on in the summer, regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or the Championship.

It is arguably surprising that Ndidi is still at the club, with his performances this season showing why he should be playing at a higher level.

With Leicester not seemingly in any financial struggle themselves like Barcelona, it is probably best for them to keep hold of him until the summer, rather than potentially cash in on him in the upcoming January transfer window.

It is very unlikely Ndidi would want to sign a new deal at the King Power Stadium amid interest from some of Europe’s elite.
