Liverpool are interested in Wilfred Ndidi as a midfield option. They have shown interest in other players but the Leicester City man would cost a lesser fee than others.

So far this season, Ndidi has played in every game and is clearly an important player for Enzo Maresca in the way he wants to play.

Despite operating as a defensive midfielder, he has two goals and an assist in two EFL Cup games.

It has been reported that Leicester are ‘willing to do business’ around Ndidi, due to his contract situation.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are said to be ‘considering’ their midfield options with Cheick Doucoure another name on the list.

The Reds have already signed Wataru Endo, who is also a defensive midfielder.

The Japanese midfielder had a baptism of fire at St James’ Park as he made his debut against Newcastle United.

Some fans weren’t enamoured by his signing or performance so a slower introduction could be beneficial.

It is clear that they are after another defensive minded option, as the window comes to a close this week.

The Foxes may be able to hold out for a beneficial fee with the Merseyside’s in a desperate situation with the clock ticking on the transfer window.

He would add Premier League experience to a midfield filled with young talent, which may benefit the team as a whole.

Ndidi was in the top 5% of midfielders for making tackles across Europe’s top five leagues, potentially enhanced by playing in a faltering team.

Signing the Nigerian midfielder could give Liverpool some tactical flexibility of playing more or less defensively.

Leicester need to consider whether or not the money garnered for their midfielder will be enough for an adequate replacement.

He is clearly a very important player under Maresca and it seems keeping him at the club would be ideal to maintain the promotion push.

Keep him on and the quality of the squad is so much higher.
