Leicester City defying 5000/1 odds to win the Premier League title is the greatest achievement in modern football.
The Foxes survived relegation by the skin of their teeth in 2014/15 and then did the unthinkable by lifting the Premier League trophy under Claudio Ranieri.
Jose Mourinho named Ranieri above Premier League legends Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola when ranking their achievements.
The Italian created an unstoppable mentality inside the Leicester City dressing room as players who were rejected by big six clubs and signed for cheap fees wrote their names into the history books.
Goal machine Jamie Vardy fired them to the title alongside the fleet-footed Riyad Mahrez, while some other stars somewhat flew under the radar, including Danny Simpson.

Danny Simpson mocked Jamie Carragher after winning Premier League
Simpson was a mainstay in the starting lineup during the campaign, appearing 30 times at right-back after missing the first seven games of the season.
The former Manchester United academy graduate wasn’t the most flashy player, but he did the basics well and formed an incredible partnership with Mahrez down the right.
So, after playing just six times during the 2007/08 campaign when United lifted the Premier League and Champions League trophies, Simpson was delighted to have contributed lots to Leicester’s triumph.
A year after winning the league with Leicester, the 38-year-old posted a tweet mocking Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, who famously never won the trophy himself.
This tweet would have rubbed salt into Carragher’s wounds, reminding him of the time when they came agonisingly close in the 2013/14 season.

Simpson’s career after Leicester City
Following an incredible five years at Leicester, Simpson departed the King Power Stadium in 2019 to join Championship outfit Huddersfield Town.
He only spent one campaign there, making 25 appearances in all competitions before joining Bristol City and then wrapping up his career at Macclesfield in 2024.
Since calling time on his professional career, Simpson has dabbled with boxing. In August 2024, he fought YouTuber Danny Aarons on the Misfits Boxing undercard, and there was a lot on the line.
Simpson agreed the winner would receive his Premier League medal or Aarons’ YouTube Creator Award. However, the bout ended in a split draw, with both fighters indicating they wanted a rematch.
