Leicester fans are all saying the same thing about Steve Cooper after 5-2 defeat to Man United

Leicester City were well beaten by Manchester United in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

Steve Cooper’s side suffered a bruising 5-2 defeat at Old Trafford as they made a number of defensive errors.

Cooper made nine changes and the lack of quality in the forward line was evident, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Kasey McAteer struggling to provide any threat off the flanks.

The underwhelming display led Leicester fans to X (formerly Twitter) where they all agreed on one thing about Cooper.

Leicester fans want Cooper dismissed

Leicester have now suffered back-to-back defeats to Nottingham Forest and Man United and have shipped eight goals.

Fans are starting to turn on Cooper once again and many of them took to X this evening urging the club to sack him.

One supporter wrote: “Get Cooper gone now, sick of how disconnected he is with this team which, despite what many people think, is good enough to stay up… as long as we never start with some of the XI we started with tonight.”

Another added: “If we lose Saturday against Ipswich, I don’t know how Cooper keeps his job! That was beyond woeful tonight against a United team who are not even average, yet we made them look good due to our inept defensive set-up!”

A third posted: “Tonight was totally unacceptable! Defensively, we are getting worse and worse by the game, and Cooper doesn’t have a clue how to solve it! Saturday is a must-win, no excuses! Cooper on borrowed time!”

Another simply wrote: “Steve Cooper just isn’t the answer is he.”

Steve Cooper has to beat Ipswich Town this weekend

Saturday’s game against relegation rivals Ipswich Town is now a must-win for Cooper, who could be dismissed if his side suffer a third straight defeat.

The former Nottingham Forest boss rested many of his big hitters this evening and paid the price, so he simply has to back up his decision with a victory.

City then face Manchester United again before another tough game against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea at the King Power Stadium.
