Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks has said that moving to the King Power Stadium was a ‘no brainer’.

Winks was manager Enzo Maresca’s first signing as Foxes boss, joining from boyhood club Tottenham for a fee of £10 million.

He spent last season on loan in the Serie A in Italy, making 20 appearances for Sampdoria and they finished bottom of the league.

After a bad loan spell last season, Winks explained that his priority was to join a team early in the summer window, and moving to Leicester was a move he could not turn down.

“Before I joined Leicester when I spoke to the owners and the manager, they said there’s a vision and a process and that’s something I am really excited to be a part of,” he told SkyBet via the EFL.

“I know many other players in the team who are excited as well because it’s exciting moments for the for the Club.

“It’s a Premier League Club that’s currently in the Championship and everybody knows that. The infrastructure, the stadium, the fans, everything – it’s a huge Club and everybody knows that they should be in the Premier League.

“We have to prove that now; we can’t sit back and say we want to be back there, we’ve got to prove that we can get back there. By doing that we have to we have to beat as many teams in the Championship as possible, even though we know it’s difficult.”

Winks has started every game for Leicester since joining, as the Foxes look to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
