Leicester City slipped to their latest defeat this season as Manchester United knocked them out of the FA Cup.
Although Bobby De Cordova Reid put Leicester City in front on the stroke of half-time, rewarding what was a solid first-half performance from the visitors.
It wasn’t enough to secure the Foxes a passage into the next round. Joshua Zirkzee came off the bench to score in the 68th minute before former defender Harry Maguire broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s heart with a 93rd-minute winner.
The defender’s bullet header caused quite a stir post-match as Leicester fans were fuming at Maguire’s goal, which was clearly offside, with many questioning why VAR wasn’t in place against Man Utd.

Marc Albrighton reacts to Harry Maguire’s winner vs Leicester City
Leicester can rightfully feel hard done by that Maguire’s goal wasn’t chalked off, exposing the importance of VAR in huge moments.
Ian Wright aimed his anger at the officials post-match, explaining how such poor decisions can cost managers their jobs, and in this case Van Nistelrooy’s.
Van Nistelrooy was also baffled by the referees’ decision, with the 48-year-old feeling everything is going against him while in charge of the Foxes.
A high-profile error stole the headlines and even some former Leicester stars had their say, including Marc Albrighton.
He was in attendance at Old Trafford and after the game, he simply wrote on his Instagram story: “Robbery”, accompanied by two angry emojis and exclamation marks.
Despite coming through the academy at Aston Villa, Albrighton grew an affiliation with the Leicester fans during his decade stint at the club, amassing 313 appearances while winning the Premier League title and FA Cup.
How Maguire responded to his winning goal in Man Utd vs Leicester
Maguire remains Leicester’s record sale, joining Manchester United from Leicester for a whopping £80m in the summer of 2019.
The 31-year-old was always popular during his brief two-year stint at the King Power Stadium, although supporters will not be pleased with what he said post-match.
Maguire gave his verdict on Man Utd vs Leicester and he felt it had a ‘great’ finish. The Englishman said: “A great finish to the game. The second half we played a lot better. The first half was nowhere near good enough, we played at a slow tempo and we didn’t really get going. We probably deserved to go into half-time losing.
“I think the second half we came out a lot bigger tempo, we dominated the game and it really felt like we were going to get that winner, it would fall to us and thankfully, I put it in the back of the net.”
Predictably, the United star didn’t mention how his goal was fortuitous and instead felt they deserved to win the contest, which was perhaps the wrong assessment considering how well Leicester played for most of it.
