Leicester City travel to Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday, and it could be a special occasion for two youngsters.
Leicester thrashed QPR 6-2 to book a trip to Old Trafford, seeing Ruud van Nistelrooy return to Man United for the first time since leaving in October.
Van Nistelrooy admitted he didn’t want to draw Man United as he wanted to face a lower league side to boost the Foxes’ chances of progression in the competition.
That being said, the 48-year-old will head back to the club where he became a legend with a fire in his belly to prove the doubters wrong.
It’s been a frustrating tenure for the Dutchman, who has watched his side lose seven of their last eight games in the league and drop into the relegation zone.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 17 | 24 | 5 | 4 | 15 | 34 | 52 | -18 | 19 | |
| 18 | 24 | 4 | 5 | 15 | 25 | 53 | -28 | 17 | |
| 19 | 24 | 3 | 7 | 14 | 22 | 49 | -27 | 16 |
But one positive from Van Nistelrooy’s methods is how highly he values youth, and he’s now confirmed that two Leicester teenagers will feature in the matchday squad.

Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans to be named in Leicester City FA Cup squad vs Man United
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash, Van Nistelrooy has confirmed that winger Jeremy Monga, 15, and forward Jake Evans, 16, will be in the squad when Leicester head to Old Trafford.
“It’s a great opportunity for younger players. Monga and Evans will be on the bench tomorrow,” Van Nistelrooy said via Leicestershire Live.
Despite not turning 16 till July, Monga has flourished in Leicester’s under-21 side this term, catching the eye with his scintillating displays.
Monga scored a sensational goal against Coventry City in the Premier League Cup at the end of January, and could now get a chance to showcase his talents on the big stage.
Evans, meanwhile, has also been in prolific form for the under-21s, with the clinical striker netting 10 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions.
Leicester’s precocious talents will be overjoyed to see their names in the matchday squad on Friday, in what is a huge chance to make history.
Leicester City can make history vs Man United
The incredible talent coming from Seagrave is a rare positive from Leicester at the moment, and they have a unique opportunity to make history this weekend.
Leicester’s youngest-ever debut in the FA Cup was Will Alves, who was 16 years, eight months and four days old when he took to the field against Watford in January 2022.

However, Van Nistelrooy can break that record if he brings Monga off the bench against United as he’s only 15 years, six months and 25 days old.
Evans can also become the youngest Leicester debutant in the competition, with two chances of making history this weekend.
