The winter transfer window slammed shut on Monday night and Leicester City left supporters livid by the lack of business they completed.

Ruud van Nistelrooy wanted to improve four key positions at Leicester, including right-back, centre-back, winger and striker.

Sadly, Leicester’s chairman was spotted playing polo on transfer deadline day, despite how pressing the need was to sign players.

The Foxes find themselves just inside the relegation places by two points and only brought in one player – Woyo Coulibaly’s £3m transfer from Parma.

So, with the hopes of surviving relegation now very slim, supporters are resigned to an immediate return to the Championship as there’s little to shout about.

However, one reason to feel confident about the future is the number of incredible youngsters coming through at Seagrave, with one precocious talent pushing for a first-team berth.

Ruud van Nistelrooy could promote Jeremy Monga to Leicester City’s first-team

Jeremy Monga continues to defy expectations in the academy, as the 15-year-old winger has played in the under-21s this term, making a mockery of players six years his senior.

The 2009-born star has tallied six appearances for the under-21s, producing one goal and one assist while catching the attention of the Leicester manager.

Van Nistelrooy sees Monga as a ‘vital’ part of the future, with the 48-year-old desperate to keep his electric winger at the club for a very long time.

Indeed, many supporters see the academy star as the best talent to emerge from the Foxes academy of late and one clip has showcased his talent.

Monga lined up against Coventry City in the under-21’s Premier League Cup, and the teenager produced a moment of absolute brilliance.

As shown by the above clip, Monga ghosted past multiple Coventry players before arrowing his strike into the top left corner.

It was a wonderful goal from Leicester’s ‘wonderkid’ Monga, who is continuing to develop at a rapid rate and it only feels a matter of time before he’s unleashed on the big stage.

Leicester must follow Arsenal’s blueprint with Ethan Nwaneri

Monga is the same age now as Ethan Nwaneri was when he made his Premier League debut for Arsenal in 2022.

Aged 15 years and 181 days, attacking midfielder Nwaneri came off the bench against Brentford during the Gunners’ 3-0 win in 2022.

Nwaneri, now 17, has established himself as a vital cog in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup, scoring a superb goal in their 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City on Sunday.

Arteta has nurtured his prodigious talent and he’s reaping the rewards years down the line, with Van Nistelrooy needing to take some inspiration from the Spaniard.

In the heat of a relegation battle, it would be a bold call to give a 15-year-old regular minutes however, he should perhaps feature from the bench this term.

Ultimately, Leicester will hold onto Monga by giving him chances in the first-team and as it stands, he’s deserving of the opportunity.
