It has been a tough start to life as Leicester City boss for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Foxes have lost seven consecutive games in the Premier League, making relegation seem like a real possibility come May.

With that being said, many would have expected Leicester to be active this January, in an attempt to bolster their survival hopes – the Foxes however have only signed Woyo Coulibaly so far.

Tensions have been rising at Leicester in recent weeks, with Ruud van Nistelrooy growing frustrated at the last of transfer activity – something he was reportedly promised upon his arrival.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has not been granted Leicester transfer wish

Having picked up only 14 points so far, Van Nistelrooy clearly recognised the need for reinforcements after arriving at the King Power in November.

After joining the Foxes, the Dutchman reportedly made his transfer demands clear to the Leicester board – with the Daily Mail revealing that he wanted to bolster four positions in particular.

“When Van Nistelrooy was hired, he made it clear he needed a full-back, a left-sided centre-back, a winger and a forward. But with financial restrictions in the background, and with the ponderous Rudkin in charge of transfers, progress has been painfully slow, with only full-back Woyo Coulibaly signed in a £2m deal from Italian club Parma.”

With a week to go until the window shuts, Van Nistelrooy has been granted only one of his four transfer wishes so far – something that could eventually contribute to his exit.

Van Nistelrooy’s managerial past could hint towards Leicester exit

Van Nistelrooy is no stranger to boardroom tension having resigned as PSV manager back in 2023 due to ‘a lack of support’ – via BBC Sport.

Having won the Dutch Cup and Dutch Super Cup during his time in Eindhoven, the now Leicester boss still felt the need to resign despite his success.

This shows the Dutchman won’t be afraid to bite the bullet if he is not backed at the King Power stadium.

With PSR concerns still hanging over Leicester, the last few days of the transfer window could have huge ramifications for both manager and club moving forward.
