Ruud van Nistelrooy and Leicester City are heading for a one-way ticket to the Championship.

Leicester fans called for Van Nistelrooy to be sacked after the Foxes were hammered 4-0 by Brentford on Friday night.

The loss was the Foxes’ biggest home defeat since 2019 and Leicester made unwanted history by becoming the first side in top flight history to lose six consecutive home games without scoring.

To make matters worse, a win for Wolverhampton Wanderers at Bournemouth now means the Blues are five points adrift of safety.

Ruud van Nistelrooy responds to Mads Hermansen and Boubakary Soumare fight

Frustrations boiled over in the stands and onto the pitch as Mads Hermansen and Boubakary Soumare had to be separated shortly after Brentford’s fourth goal.

Hermansen seemed furious and Soumare didn’t take to the criticism well, eventually being separated by teammates Facundo Buonanotte and Stephy Mavididi.

Asked about the incident, Van Nistelrooy tried to offer a positive take by suggesting that it was a positive reaction from the duo and that all is well between the two.

He said: “It’s no problem, it’s good that players are holding each other accountable because they care.

“In the dressing room, it was fine and they move on.”

The cracks are appearing in the Leicester City squad

When your own players start arguing with each other, it’s an apparent sign of how bad things are for a club.

Both Hermansen and Soumare are players who had strong starts to the season, but like everyone else, have faded away.

Van Nistelrooy may have tried to turn their altercation into a positive but it shows that there isn’t unity amongst the squad.

With a horrible run of fixtures to come for Leicester now, unity is needed more than ever otherwise it’s curtains for the Foxes’ Premier League campaign.
