Leicester City are close to bringing in a winger, which could spell bad news in the pursuit for one of their alternative targets.
Steve Cooper and Leicester City have shown reluctance to roll over after they lost out to Roma in the long term pursuit of Juventus and Argentinian winger Matias Soule, who made it clear that he preferred a move to the Serie A giants.
The Foxes have since targeted Brighton winger Facundo Buonanotte in a loan move ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
The Argentinian winger has already been handed two international caps at the age-of-19, and also has 40 appearances at Premier League level, bursting onto the scene at the end of the 2022/23 season, with him being noted for his ‘quick’ play by former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, per Sky Sports.
Whilst this is an inspiring signing for Cooper’s side, it may suggest that another deal could be dead in the water that would have seen Leicester City further bolster their attacking options.

Leicester City deal for Facundo Buonanotte could see the end of Yaser Asprilla deal
With Leicester City set to sign Facundo Buonanotte imminently in a loan deal, any chances to bring in Yaser Asprilla could be depleted.
The Foxes were initially closing in on the Colombian international, with the 20-year-old reportedly ‘on his way’ to Leicestershire as of last week.
It was also recently reported that Leicester City had battled it out with ‘Champions League side Porto, whilst Ligue 1 outfit Rennes’, but had edged ahead in the race for the Watford attacker.
However, any deal to bring Asprilla in has since gone quiet, which suggests that Leicester City may have opted for the cheaper option of Buonanotte in a loan deal.

Facundo Buonanotte deal makes more sense in Leicester City for the short-term
The Foxes on the surface may have appeared to have potentially taken the cheaper route, if they abandon the signing of Asprilla to obtain Buonanotte.
However, it makes much more sense for Leicester City in their situation to be going for the Argentinian international primarily due to the finances involved in the deal.
It isn’t a case that the funds won’t be spent at all, but will alternatively be saved in a deal to bring an attacking-midfielder to the club, which must take priority after the departure of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.
Buonanotte’s Premier League experience is just another added positive that comes with this potential switch up in attacking targets for Leicester City, of which just tops off a list of reasons as to why a deal for the Brighton attacker will be much more beneficial for the Foxes this summer.
