Leicester City once again tasted defeat despite a well-fought battle with Arsenal.

On a day where Leicester fans protested against the club’s owners it looked as if they had enough in the tank to earn themselves a point until substitute Mikel Merino came on and scored a brace.

The loss coincided with Ipswich Town’s draw against Aston Villa and with Wolverhampton Wanderers facing Liverpool today (Sunday 16 February), the Foxes could find themselves marooned in 19th spot.

Wilfred Ndidi caught the eye for Leicester once again and made plenty of interceptions, tackles and came close to scoring in the first half but whilst he was one of the stars on the pitch, it was another who deserved to take the plaudits.

Woyo Coulibaly impresses for Leicester against Arsenal

After James Justin was forced to come off early in the second half, winter signing Woyo Coulibaly was given the nod to come on and slot in at right back.

Leicester fans wanted Coulibaly to start and the £3m defender looked head and shoulders above some of his teammates.

Coulibaly had Raheem Sterling in his back pocket, making three tackles and three interceptions over the course of his second-half cameo.

The 25-year-old also didn’t hesitate to get forward on occasion, sprinting forward to join the attack and offer an alternative option to Bobby De Cordova-Reid or Bilal El Khannouss.

Woyo Coulibaly deserves to start against Brentford

With Ruud van Nistelrooy confirming that Justin will be assessed before Leicester’s next game against Brentford, an opportunity has come for Coulibaly to be given his first start.

Justin is one of the few ever-presents under Van Nistelrooy this season and despite some criticism from supporters, has improved in recent weeks.

But, with the emergence of Coulibaly at the King Power Stadium a small highlight in an otherwise disappointing afternoon on Saturday, the former Parma man did enough to warrant a starting birth in the squad and help his teammates turn their season around.
