Jamie Vardy signs new contract, Man Utd target sold and more – early Leicester predictions for summer window

Leicester City fans are probably already counting down the days until the 2024/25 season is over and they can begin to rebuild.

Even with Jon Rudkin still heading things up, fans were likely optimistic going into the current campaign.

Leicester City did invest over the summer but more quality additions were probably needed with the benefit of hindsight.

We are now in the business end of the season and few will argue that the Foxes’ squad is good enough to stay in the Premier League.

Leicester have dropped down to 19th and if they lose to Brentford on Friday evening, it seems inevitable they will be back plying their trade in the Championship come 2025/26.

With that in mind, we have made some bold predictions for what could happen at the King Power Stadium once the summer rolls around.

Jamie Vardy signs new Leicester City contract

When he does eventually hang up his boots, Jamie Vardy will be remembered as perhaps the greatest player in Leicester’s history, at least in the modern era.

He was instrumental in them winning their first and only Premier League title and has since helped bring an FA Cup back to the Midlands.

The striker is out of contract at the end of this season and now 38, his playing days are numbered.

However, Vardy made his future stance clear already this term and with the Englishman showing no signs of wanting to hang up his boots, there’s every chance he signs a one-year extension with Leicester.

He’s proven himself to be a loyal servant over the years despite interest from Arsenal, and it would be amazing if the 198-goal centre-forward stuck around for another season to help the Foxes rebuild.

Manchester United target Mads Hermansen sold to ease PSR woes

Mads Hermansen has been one of Leicester’s few standout performers in the 2024/25 season and was a big miss when sidelined.

However, Manchester United have scouted Hermansen this year and the Dane does look set for a future away from the King Power.

He’s obviously a top talent and as Leicester still have PSR problems, the goalkeeper will probably be one of the names the club look at selling for big money to help ease that burden and fund a potential rebuild in the summer.

Bilal El Khannouss joins top Premier League club

Even if Leicester do the impossible and mount a survival push this season, it’s clear Bilal El Khannouss is already too good for a side in the bottom half of the Premier League.

El Khannouss was backed to join Arsenal by a former coach recently and though it may not be from the Gunners, the midfielder will surely have interest from teams currently pushing for European football when the summer roles around.

Fans will obviously be devastated if this happens given how well he has played during his short spell at Leicester but owing to the state the club is in right now, they can’t really compete with teams like Arsenal on or off the field.
