The January transfer window is pivotal for Leicester City as they aim to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
With the joint-worst defence in the league, as it stands, Leicester are targeting defenders this month to help Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men become tighter at the back.
Indeed, successfully addressing their defensive problems while perhaps adding one or two attacking players could see the Foxes survive in the top flight.

Leicester fans would snap people’s hands off for Premier League survival this term, whereas, in 2023/24, it was Enzo Maresca who led them to the Championship title.
The Italian tactician impressed in the second tier with his possession-based football as he unearthed the likes of Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi in attack.
In an attempt to get them over the line in January, Maresca looked to bolster his squad. However, no players were brought into the club and supporters will now be glad that a key target wasn’t signed.

Leicester dodged a bullet by not signing Stefano Sensi
Leicester were close to signing Stefano Sensi from Inter Milan in January 2024. The transfer for the deep-lying playmaker was all but wrapped up as he completed his medical at Seagrave.
However, a deal for Sensi collapsed right at the death as the two clubs couldn’t agree on payment terms, with the experienced midfielder remaining at the San Siro.
Now, almost a year on from his failed move to the King Power Stadium, it’s become clear that Maresca dodged a bullet not landing the 29-year-old.
Sensi’s injury troubles were well-documented before he was set to make a move to Leicester and they’ve continued since signing for new Serie A side Monza.
He’s since played just 108 minutes in all competitions with injuries preventing him from making the squad on 10 occasions this term.
Boubakary Soumare is now shining for Leicester
When City were on the verge of capturing Sensi almost a year ago, it looked as though Boubakary Soumare had no way back at Leicester.
The Frenchman was on loan at La Liga side Sevilla and was expected to leave in the summer, with Roma showing an interest in Soumare.
Fast forward six months and Soumare has turned his Leicester career around, now establishing himself as a regular starter in the Premier League after Steve Cooper reintroduced him into the squad.
The midfield machine has started in nine of the Foxes’ last 10 games in the league, only missing the defeat to Newcastle United through suspension.
In that time, he’s developed a strong understanding with Harry Winks in midfield as Leicester’s midfield duo impressed against Man City.
Hopefully, the French powerhouse can continue his recent resurgence for van Nistelrooy as he can be the catalyst for Premier League survival.
