Leicester City fans are all saying the same thing about David Moyes after latest defeat

Another weekend, another loss for Leicester City.

Despite keeping Arsenal at bay for over an hour their resolve was broken with just shy of 20 minutes to play as makeshift forward Mikel Merino came off the bench to notch a brace.

The loss saw Leicester achieve an unwanted record which has only been matched by one other Premier League team after losing five home league games in a row and failing to score in any of them.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side are now 19th in the table after Ipswich Town moved above them on goal difference after their draw against Aston Villa.

It’s been a real tough start for Van Nistelrooy, who has only won two league games as Leicester boss and it’s led to some fans questioning why they didn’t appoint David Moyes.

Leicester City fans wanted David Moyes to replace Steve Cooper

Moyes is enjoying life in his second spell as Everton manager, which included the Toffees thumping Leicester 4-0.

The former Manchester United and West Ham United boss was available after leaving West Ham in the summer.

After Steve Cooper was sacked by the Foxes, Moyes was one of the names linked to the Leicester job.

In the end, he wasn’t selected and supporters feel like they’ve missed an open goal.

@Dan_1884 wrote: “I repeat AGAIN. The club didn’t even contact David Moyes when they sacked Steve Cooper. Absolutely unforgivable. Criminal. And just look now.

“Imagine us sleeping on David Moyes, a proven premier league manager to appoint someone who only got the job coz he beat us twice with the worst man united team I’ve ever seen,” added @anton_dewing.

@RudkinRovers said: “Again, why didn’t we get David Moyes?”

Leicester City missed out on chance to appoint David Moyes in 2019

Gary Lineker has also advocated for Moyes to become Leicester manager in the past but it could’ve been a genuine possibility in 2019.

Shortly after Claude Puel had been sacked in 2019, eventually being replaced by Brendan Rodgers, Moyes admitted that he was ready to return to management and threw his name into the hat for the Foxes’ managerial role.

Speaking to TalkSPORT at the time, the Scotsman said: “I’m very interested in getting back into management.

“I think I’m ready, well-rested and any jobs which give me the opportunity to work and have a bit of stability in, I’d be interested in.”

Since returning to Everton it’s been a blistering start, however, with the Merseyside club picking up 13 points from a possible 18.

Their upturn in form has seen them move well clear of any relegation fears and in line for another season of top flight football.
