The best eleven available to Steve Cooper following the end of the summer 2024 transfer window.

Leicester City have been busy in the transfer window and made eight additions this summer.

Profit and sustainability fears meant that the Foxes had to work smartly however it hasn’t stopped them from bringing in plenty of new faces.

Premier League survival is the sole aim for this season and the new players could go a long way to securing their top-flight status.

Steve Cooper’s early season formation won’t need to change but some new personnel will come into the fold, giving the XI a different look to the one that drew with Tottenham on the opening day of the season.

Reliable Ricardo Pereira returns to starting XI

Cooper has preferred to use James Justin in the opening two games of the season at right-back but the 26-year-old hasn’t impressed.

Justin was used on the left in the Championship title-winning season however Victor Kristiansen has started well and deserves to keep his place.

Ricardo Pereira’s experience is invaluable in the Foxes’ relegation battle and would offer defensive cover, as well as more of a threat in an attacking area.

Pereira would have to adapt to more of a flat back-four approach after being used as an inverted full-back under Enzo Maresca.

As for the centre-backs, it’s very much a case of don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Jannik Vestergaard and his partner Wout Faes have forged a strong relationship together and Caleb Okoli needs time to adapt before he can be considered a strong contender.

Two new signings make their way into best XI

The midfield area of the eleven is where the most change takes place.

In the more defensive roles, Harry Winks and Wilfred Ndidi keep their place. Oliver Skipp would’ve been a viable option to replace the latter however Ndidi’s ability to retain possession remains a vital asset.

On the right of the three behind the striker is Abdul Fatawu. The Ghana international is one of the first names on the team sheet for the Foxes and gets fans off their seats with his ability to make things happen out of nothing.

Bilal El Khannouss is the first of the new signings that forces his way into the starting XI.

Signing the Morocco international is a huge coup for Leicester, who faced competition for his signature.

Only aged 20, El Khannouss is someone the club can build a side around for years to come and looks more than ready to face the challenge of Premier League football.

Stephy Mavididi hasn’t been favoured, despite his goalscoring exploits last season, in the first two league games.

Kasey McAteer is also probably not of the quality to start for the Foxes but is a worthwhile backup for both sides.

Facundo Buonanotte has been one of the shining lights in Leicester’s side this season and can shift out onto the left-hand side of the three midfielders who line up just behind Leicester talisman Jamie Vardy.

Odsonne Edouard’s loan deal means he is the most likely to challenge Vardy for a starting spot but will have to bide his time and prove his worth from the bench at first.

Jordan Ayew will be waiting in the wings as a back-up, as will Patson Daka when he recovers from injury.
